Yachting Association Of India – 2016

I have known Eshed since June 2011. In my brief interaction during the period of his first
stint in India when he was employed in India, as a contract coach for the Optimist, Laser
and 420 training, his abilities as an excellent trainer were very evident. During my tenure
as Chairman, Performance Sailing Development committee for the Yachting Association of
India, I had a more in-depth interaction with him as he was a key player to help us achieve
our goals. During this period, I have found that his knowledge and understanding of
coaching as well as the methods adopted by him to train an athlete are world class.
We have had the pleasure of utilizing his services in preparation for the Asian Games 2014
and the Olympic Qualifiers, 2016. Despite the organizational challenges faced by us, he
has maintained his professionalism and stuck through well over and beyond expectations
of a professional coach. His strengths observed by us are:

  • Knowledge- Not only of the sport, but also how people learn
  • Skill – He has proven beyond doubt to have excellent coaching skills
  • Teamwork – Eshed is the ideal teammate who believes team comes before self
  • Communication – Despite working in different time zones and traveling extensively, he has kept the core team updated on the progress and has accepted both motivational as well as developmental feedback in a professional manner
  • People skills – Eshed has a knack of establishing excellent rapport with his athletes which provides the strong foundation to the training program

I have no doubt that any athlete or organization considering utilizing his services will
benefit in all classes and across all levels of sailing from Optimist to The Olympic Classes.
